LA Dept of Revenue Issued Refunds in Error – Must Return Checks

LDR Refunded Individual Income Tax Estimated Payments in Error — Taxpayers Should Return Funds

When the Citizens Insurance Refund Forms were filed prior to the individual income tax return being filed for the period, the LDR system accepted the Citizens INS return as the individual income tax return for the period and refunded any estimated payments or carry forwards received previously on the period. This has happened for both the 2014 and 2015 periods, if there were payments on the period but no 540 filed.

Refund checks received in error should be returned to LDR, PO Box 201, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, with a cover letter requesting that the funds be reapplied to the taxpayer’s account.

Refunds received by direct deposit should be returned within 30 days with a cover letter requesting that the funds be applied. The cover letter should provide the primary on the account’s name plus the last four digits of the social security number and the tax period. These checks should be mailed to LDR, PO Box 201, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
