The Louisiana Department of Revenue reminds taxpayers that the 2015 Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday will take place Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6, 2015. During this period, individual consumer purchases of guns, ammunition, and a wide range of other hunting supplies will be exempt from state and local sales taxes.

Hunting supplies eligible for exemption include (1) firearms that may be legally sold or purchased in Louisiana; (2) ammunition intended to be fired from a gun or firearm; (3) archery supplies to be used for hunting; (4) apparel such as safety gear, camouflage clothing, jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, face masks, and thermal underwear, manufactured and marketed as being primarily for wear or use while hunting; and (5) off-road vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles designed and intended primarily for hunting.

The exemption for off-road vehicles does not apply to golf carts, go-carts, dirt bikes, mini-bikes, motorcycles, tractors, motor vehicles that may be legally driven on the streets and highways of Louisiana, or heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, backhoes, and bulldozers.
